Who we are
About Little Lore Bits:
Little Lore Bits creates small beautiful things that carry a story. Stories from folklore of all kinds, from fairytales to little facts/tidbits about the history and beliefs about objects or symbols.
The stories connect us to people and cultures from the past, and the beautiful objects to be worn or to adorn your home are a way to share the stories with people in the present and future.
A little about me:
Hi! My name is Erin Hurst, I am the founder of Little Lore Bits. I’ve always been drawn to stories, as I think a lot of us are. Humans are storytellers and story listeners. We understand ourselves and the world around us through the stories we hear and the stories we tell. As I watch my toddler grow and learn to evaluate the world around him, it is through telling stories about his experiences that he is able to process what happens to him and around him.
My love of crafting started as far back as I can remember, I loved to get lost in creating. I’d sit in the basement and tinker away with paint and glue and glitter and anything I could get my hands on.
It was at an exhibit at The Morgan Library and Museum in 2018 that I was struck with the inspiration to put stories and crafting together. Ancient Western Asian seals: bead-looking objects about one-inch in height intricately carved with a picture-story. In my mind, this was the answer - crafting objects that tell a story. And so Little Lore Bits was born.
